About Me

Kathleen headshotHi, my name is Kathleen. Welcome to my website.

I have been a personal trainer, Pilates equipment specialist, and fitness writer since 2002. I absolutely love my job. I am passionate about health and wellness; helping people achieve their goals fills me with such joy. I truly believe that exercise has the ability to energize and exhilarate. If your workouts are making you feel worse about yourself, then you are doing something wrong!

I became a personal trainer because exercise literally changed my life. As a teenager I was chubby and I had incredibly low self-esteem. My mom gave me a membership to the YMCA as my grade eight-graduation gift. I started to run and lift weights, and before I knew it, the girl who would do anything to get out of gym class, was running marathons, lifting weights, and playing on basketball and baseball teams. Changing my lifestyle was the best thing that I ever did for myself. I became a personal trainer to share my life of movement with anyone who is ready to make a positive change.

kathleen_full_bodyI love my job, in large part because two days are never the same. I work with a wide range of clients—from athletes, to people who simply want to lose weight, to people living with neurological conditions like Parkinson’s. I also perform assessments and design individual programs for clients. I enjoy the challenge of designing a targeted, individualized program for someone, even if all the equipment they have is one set of dumbbells. I also make regular TV and media appearances, write for publications including The Globe and Mail and The Huffington Post, and I am the featured trainer in The Globe and Mail’s online fitness video series.

I am passionate about learning. I love attending conferences and achieving certifications. I hold a Master’s degree from the University of Toronto and I am currently working to graduate from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition.
