The first thing to think about for this exercise is to GROUND YOUR CORE. Keep your body engaged! No sloppy bodies here! Start with your feet grounded and your core engaged and still. The only thing that is moving is your arm from your shoulder socket. The second is to think of your arm as moving through something sticky. Think of it as the air is thick and resisting. Remember the rest of your body does not move through these exercises. Ah, the shoulder bliss!
