Introduction
Happy New Year!
I hope that everyone’s 2015 is off to a happy and healthy start! My New Year’s wish for all of you is that you “trend positive” in 2015. Meaning, aiming for “health perfection” just sets you up to fail. So, this year instead of making unrealistic resolutions, simply aim to “trend positive” and make more healthy choices in 2015 than you did in 2014!
A great way to start “trending positive” is to complete the 30 Day Health challenge I created for The Globe and Mail. The challenge is realistic, accessible and effective. Week one can be found here. This is week two.
Not into challenges? No problem, stay motivated in 2015 by mixing up your workouts. I am always more excited to train when I am have something new to try. Take a look at my Huffington Post Blog for a few ideas on how to make your workouts more fun.
Lastly, I am excited to share with you the four videos I did for Sears Canada’s “12 Days Of Fitness”. They can all be found on my youtube channel.
The exercise of the month is a twist on the traditional plank, the “plank and row”. The workout of the month is my current obsession, an interval treadmill hill routine. The recipe of the month is a delicious and healthy smoothie. It is complements of nutritionist Tara Postnikoff. Thanks Tara! I am excited to try it 🙂
Exercise of the Month
Plank and Row
Start in a plank position balancing on your hands and toes. One weight should be on the floor under your chest. Your shoulders, hips and feet should make one straight line. Don’t arch your lower back, engage your core. Grab the weight with one hand and use your upper back to row your elbow up to the sky. Don’t let your hips shift. Repeat ten times and then switch hands.
